The unique municipality of La Carlota, Cordoba, is located south-west of the province. La Carlota is located in a valley beside the River Guadalquivir and is divided into 11 districts or departments. The municipality's main economic focus is on agriculture, specifically, cultivations of olive groves, sugar beet, sunflower, vineyards, dry cereals, and cotton. La Carlota is filled with historical and cultural places like Real Posada y Fonda, Parroquia de la Purísima Concepción, Mercado de Abastos, Real Cárcel and Museo de Historia Juan Bernier, and Palacio de la Subdelegación de la Intendencia. The municipality is also an ideal location for hiking with its views of natures especially when taking the Vía Verde of the Campiña route.
